THE WORKSHOP MANUAL

Less guessing. Fewer fires.

Start here before your next install. The creator’s release instructions always take priority over this general checklist.

Installing a Story Mode mod

  1. Check the release’s platform and edition. Legacy and Enhanced are separate targets; do not assume an older package works on both.
  2. Read Requirements and Installation on the mod page. Install only the dependencies the creator actually lists.
  3. Back up files you will replace and keep a clean copy of your game configuration. Close the game before changing its files.
  4. Extract the archive and follow the listed folder structure. Do not copy every file into the game root and hope for divine intervention.
  5. Test one new mod at a time in Story Mode. Keep your modded setup out of GTA Online.
  6. Keep the downloaded version and its instructions together so an update can be reversed cleanly.

Something broke. Naturally.

  1. Check the exact game edition, mod version and dependency versions against the creator’s requirements.
  2. Remove the newest change and test again. Then reintroduce mods one at a time to identify a conflict.
  3. Check the installation path, configuration file and relevant logs. Keep the first useful error rather than a screenshot of the entire desktop.
  4. Read the mod’s changelog and discussion for known issues.
  5. Ask in the release discussion with your edition, version, steps to reproduce and error text. Remove usernames, private paths, tokens and passwords from logs.

For account, purchase or download-access problems, use WreckD support. Creators cannot repair your PayPal account with a Lua script.

Publishing a release people can actually use

  1. Choose the correct game, category, Story Mode/FiveM target and edition.
  2. Describe what it does, what it requires and how to install it. Include a short test checklist and known limitations.
  3. Use clear screenshots of the actual mod. Package only the files you have permission to distribute; remove credentials and personal files.
  4. Keep the version number and changelog useful. Upload an update as a new version instead of quietly replacing an old download.
  5. Credit your sources and document redistribution permission for imported work.
  6. For paid releases, explain the license and review the creator sales terms. Public availability and payouts depend on the site’s current provider approval.

Keep track of good releases

Bookmark a mod to save it for later. Follow updates on a release to keep it in your followed collection. Your account menu gives you quick access to saved mods, purchases, and your own releases.

For installation problems, use the release discussion or private bug-report tab. Include the version, game edition, and steps that reproduce the problem.

What does DEMO mean?

Demo listings preview WreckD’s pages and layouts. They are clearly labeled, have no downloadable software, and cannot take payments. A displayed demo price is an example.

GTA VI concept demos do not mean PC mods are available. Normal submissions remain locked until the PC release.
